It is lighter per meter than the equivalent Short or Mid Link chain (less steel per meter) while maintaining the same strength as these heavier chains.
Long Link allows you to pass the last link through any other link for locking purposes. This ensures the lock fits snugly onto the chain increasing the difficulty of an attack designed to break the lock off the chain.
